"Entrance to the Phileas Fogg Factory - geograph.org.uk - 1419478Phileas Fogg is a brand of snack products in the United Kingdom that was created in 1982. The brand is named for Phileas Fogg, the protagonist of Jules Verne's Around the World in Eighty Days, and the products are made in Consett, County Durham. When the Phileas Fogg company was sold in the 1990s, its products were rebranded but poorly received, leading to a decline in popularity. The brand was relaunched in 2009. Early years The Phileas Fogg snack range was launched in 1982 by Roger McKechnie, Keith Gill, Ray McGhee and John Pike, who invested £67,000 of their own money. The aim was to create a snack aimed at adults and branded with a recognisable character. The range included different flavours "from around the world" such as miniature garlic breads and tortilla chips. Decline in the 1990s Between the late 1980s and early 1990s, Phileas Fogg Snacks achieved a turnover of more than £30 million. It was subsequently purchased for £24 million by United Biscuits. The four founders left after the sale while United Biscuits made significant changes to the packaging and identity, precipitating a decline in popularity. 2009 relaunch United Biscuits relaunched the brand in 2009 after research showed a high number of British consumers were still aware of it. As of 2016 the brand is still sold but is now owned by KP Snacks and consists of an entirely different product range. References Category:Snack food manufacturers of the United Kingdom "
"The Tolbooth The Tolbooth in Aberdeen, Scotland is a 17th-century former jail which is now operated as a museum. It was built between 1616 and 1629 and is attached to Aberdeen Sheriff Court on the city centre's Union Street. The museum contains exhibits of prison cells and various police and law and order related items. It housed over 50 Jacobite prisoners after the Battle of Culloden. The building is claimed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Aberdeen and has been subject to many investigations by paranormal investigation teams East Scotland Paranormal and James Warrender's: The Ghost Network. The most notable investigation was in April 2009 when the Livingtv series Most Haunted visited the building. The episode aired in December 2009. In 2016, the museum celebrated its 400th anniversary. "WNOK is a CHR radio station licensed to Columbia, South Carolina and serves the Columbia, South Carolina market. The iHeartMedia, Inc. outlet is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to broadcast at 104.7 MHz with an ERP of 90 kW. The station goes by the name 104.7 WNOK and its current slogan is "All The Hits." Its studios are in Columbia (west of the Congaree River) and the transmitter is northeast of Columbia in unincorporated Richland County. The station receives exceptional interference from WKQC in Charlotte. The Chester and Lancaster areas are affected the most with interference from both stations. History WNOK-FM signed on the air July 15, 1959, simulcasting much of WNOK's programming which consisted of Pop Standards. During the 1960s, WNOK-FM broke off simulcasting when WNOK went Top 40 and went to the Beautiful Music format. Both stations were sister stations of WNOK-TV/67. In the early 1960s, WNOK-FM broadcast commercial background music on an SCA subcarrier channel with a subcarrier frequency of 23 kHz. This prevented the station from broadcasting stereo because the SCA subchannel occupied part of the frequency band for a stereo signal. In November 1963, WNOK-FM interrupted its background music service to announce that President John Kennedy had been shot in Dallas, Texas. The announcement was heard in department stores and offices throughout the Columbia area. Beginning in the mid-1970s, the station gradually became more contemporary with something of an adult contemporary format. The station went full blown top 40 in December 1976 as "Stereo 105" and was largely automated. This move proved to be a wise decision as the station enjoyed huge ratings for the remainder of the 1970s and into the 1980s. By 1980, the automation was done away with, replaced with a live airstaff and the station's name became simply "105 WNOK". By early 1984, the station became "104.7 WNOK", the first station in Columbia to adopt their actual frequency as part of their name. 104.7 WNOK logo from 2004 to December 9, 2014. The current logo adopts the KISS-FM fonts The station is owned by Clear Channel Communications, which also owns Sports talk WCOS Country WCOS-FM, Variety Hits WLTY, Urban contemporary WXBT and News/Talk WVOC in the Columbia radio market.
